Ellsworth Air Force Base On Arrival

OK, I am here --- now what?

Arrival at a new Base is an exciting but worrisome time. Information on your new assignment will be the key to making your first days at Ellsworth AFB  a pleasant experience. There are numerous resources which offer bits of information but we will place valuable information in one location so you can easily navigate through the arrival process.

Getting to Ellsworth AFB

Arriving at Rapid City Regional Airport

Often a member of your gaining unit, or your sponsor, will meet you at the airport.   If you choose to drive yourself:  Exit the airport on Airport Road.  Follow to Long View Road which is a slight veer to the left.  Turn right on Radar Hill Road.  Travel about 4 miles then turn right on SD-230E.  Turn left on SD-435 / Cedar St.  Cedar St becomes N. Ellsworth Blvd.   The base is approximately 10 miles from the airport.

Driving Yourself

Exit I-90 onto northbound N. Ellsworth Boulevard.

In-Processing

Service members should report, with their sponsors, to the Rushmore Center and the 28th Forces Support Squadron customer service office upon their arrival. Personnel will be in-processed through the Right Start program, a mandatory briefing for all newly arrived service members designed to minimize the time and appointments needed to introduce them to the base and organization quickly. Spouses are welcome at Right Start and encouraged to attend. Right Start is located at the Rushmore Center, 1000 Ellsworth St., Suite 1400. Bring all no-fee passports you may have if coming from an overseas location.
