Many newcomers to Whiteman AFB will live off-base for at least a short time while they wait for on-base housing. Some may choose to stay off base and purchase their own home due to the reasonable housing rates in this area. Rental houses and apartments are available in Knob Noster but you will find more variety in the nearby larger towns of Warrensburg and Sedalia. For those moving a mobile home to the area or wishing to find a mobile home in the area you will find numerous mobile home parks very near Whiteman.

If you will be moving off-base you should first report to the Housing Office for information. This office keeps an updated list of local rentals. They can also provide information on local realtors. Housing management can also help with landlord/tenant disputes and housing discrimination complaints. Make sure to consult with this office before entering into a rental contract.

Rental rates vary widely. Expect to pay at least $600 for a 2 bedroom, $800 for a 3 bedroom, and $1000 for a 4 bedroom. Cheaper rates are most likely available for apartments or mobile homes.
